Black history month challenge: recognize the full humanity of every black person you see.
Don’t just recognize greatness and high achievements. ALSO recognize humanness.
Recognize us as someone loveable, recognize us as a potential life partner.
Recognize a black kid as someone who deserves just as much investment as a white kid in West Bloomfield.
Recognize childbearing black women as worthy of research to decrease their mortality and their infants’ mortality.
Recognize a black man as a tender human who deserves patience, kindness, generosity of spirit.
Think of the softest most tender feelings you’ve ever felt about a person and realize someone feels that way about every black person you have ever seen.
And you could be that person too.
