The Movement Fellowship held it’s last meeting and graduation on Saturday, November 12th. The module, moderated by Denzel McCampbell of Progress MI, focused on community organizing, racial justice and communications. State Representative Erika Geiss, for District 12, was present to offer words of encouragement during the commencement festivities.
We’d like to highlight the following fellows for completing the program:

Precinct 12 at 7 Mile and Woodward in Detroit

The Mothering Justice team volunteered to commence an Election Day Poll Drive at Precinct 12, in Detroit. A representative was present to assist voters who had questions about the Community Benefits Ordinance Proposals, listed on the ballot. From 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, staff and canvassers were stationed at the entrance door. Proposal A was rejected by a margin of about 54% to 46%, while Proposal B won by a margin of roughly 53% to 47%.

Mothering Justice finished it’s “Get Out The Vote” campaign on November 4th.  This program consisted of writing elected officials, phone banking, mailing reminder postcards, door-to-door canvassing in Detroit, ballot awareness meetings, sending hundreds of text messages and carpooling to polling locations.  The end result was touching thousands of constituents throughout the state.

G.O.T.V. Tele Town Hall Flyer 2016

Mothering Justice collaborated with renowned Speaker, Poet and Activist, Staceyann Chin, for our G.O.T.V. Tele Town Hall Phone Conference.  It was held on Friday, November 4th.  This event was organized and facilitated by our Founder, Danielle Atkinson. The guest speaker along side Ms. Chin, was Mothering Justices’ own Director of Media Communications, Tomicka Robinson.

Statistical Data:

  1. ​​Almost 12,000 participants (80% response rate from our invitational)
  2. 46% of callers stated “Wages/Jobs” as their no. 1 concern
  3. 96 attendees submitted live questions
  4. 147 called in by way of social media informational posts
